Flemish development cooperation aims to create wide public support for a world that is fair, based on solidarity, sustainable and no longer unequal. For this reason, Flanders supports several organisations that raise awareness, offer insights and promote local actions.
Flanders backs the news agency IPS Vlaanderen and the non-profitmaking organisation Wereldmediahuis, publisher of the magazine and news site MO*. Both media players contribute on a continuous basis to QUALITY INFORMATION and perception of global current topics.
Municipalities are the closest to their citizens, which is why they play an important role in the UN sustainable development goals. However, developing a LOCAL GLOBAL POLICY is not self-evident. To advise local authorities on this matter, we support the Association for Cities and Municipalities.
Many Flemish people take action and engage in all kinds of initiatives that offer their own response to today’s global challenges. For Flanders, it is essential that this PRIVATE INITIATIVES are awarded afully-fledged position within the development cooperation landscape. To that end, we support the general operation of the support centre of 11.11.11., which pools the efforts of all private initiatives and assists them in any possible way.
The Flemish Association for Development Cooperation and Technical Assistance (VVOB) is specialised in improving the quality of EDUCATIONAL SYSTEMS in developing countries. Flanders supports their general operation and the project Scholenbanden. This project cements valuable ties between schools from Flanders and schools in developing countries.
