Project: Curriculum ‘The Volunteers: Americans join World War One, 1914-1919’ Beneficiary: AFS Intercultural Programs, Inc Amount: 30.000 USD Duration: 2014 - 2016 The Volunteers: Americans Join World War I, 1914-1919 Curriculum was launched on March 2 at an event hosted by the Flanders House in New York City and online at thevolunteers.afs.org. The event featured keynote speaker Sophie De Schaepdrijver, a distinguished Belgian historian, Associate Professor at Pennsylvania State University, and recipient of the Order of the Crown (Belgium).

The naval battles and remaining underwater cultural heritage linked to those battles merit attention as well. This projects focuses on the African and Asian involvement in naval battles with an exhibition.

Project: the performance of dance company Shell Shock in Paris Beneficiary: Eastman Budget: 25.000 euros Period: 2018 - 2019 On the 10th and 11th of November 2018, Eastman Dance Company (choreographer Sidi Larbi Cheraoui) will perform in Paris as part of the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the WOI Armistice. The performances of Shell Shock in Paris offer a good opportunity for Flanders to be present at the closing event of the French President Macron in the context of the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Great War.
