Project: Extension of the protection of marine sites on the UNESCO World Heritage List Beneficiary: UNESO Amount: 250.000 USD Duration: 2016 - 2017 The overall aim of this follow-up project is to further strengthen the impact of the World Heritage Marine Programme on the conservation of Unesco World Heritage Sites with an expected catalyst effect on other marine protected areas worldwide. It is a longstanding aim for UNESCO to improve this situation. Since the site was accessible again in 2016, Unesco dispatched a rapid assessment mission to assess the damages and identify emergency measures.
