Grant to the African Climate Change Fund 2017
Project: Grant to the African Climate Change Fund Beneficiary: African climate Change fund period: 2017-2018 Amount: 2.000.000 euro According a study by Climate Policy Initiative in 2013-2014, only 3% of global climate funding went to Sub Saharan Africa. This contrasts with the finding that Sub-Saharan Africa is the region with the lowest contribution to climate change, but with the highest vulnerability to climate change impacts. It is known that these countries find it more difficult to raise climate finance.

Grant for a baseline study on first aid activities in Southern Africa, 2013
Partner: Belgian Red Cross - Flanders Duration: 2013-2014 Budget: 147.840 euro The Belgian Red Cross - Flanders intends to strengthen the first aid activities of 10 national committees in southern Africa (Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe) via the International Red Cross. In order to bring this to a successful end, however, the idea is to carry out a baseline study first. For this purpose, the needs, legislative frameworks, policy plans and ongoing activities of each of the different countries will be recorded.

Project: Strengthening subregional cooperation and national capacities in seven southern African countries to implement the 2003 Convention for the preservation of intangible cultural heritage (PART I) Beneficiary: Unesco Amount: 250 000 USD Duration: 2014 This project aims to establish a subregional cooperation platform to help seven southern African countries in their efforts to protect the heritage living within their borders. This platform consolidates the results of previous projects funded by Flanders.

Grant for improving the representation of African natural sites on the World Heritage List, 2019
Project: Improving the representation of African sites on the World Heritage List: upstream support for natural heritage Beneficiary: UNESCO Duration: 2019-2020 Budget: 250.000 USD Africa remains poorly represented on the World Heritage List. It is a longstanding aim for UNESCO to improve this situation. In order to achieve a more balanced representation on the World Heritage List, technical assistance should be provided to African countries in their efforts to nominate sites as World Heritage. This projects wants to contribute to that aim, specifically for key natural sites.

Project: First Aid Initiative - FAI II for southern Africa: consolidation, activation and capitalisation Beneficiary: Red Cross Flanders Amount: 1.000.000 euro Duration: 2018 With this initiative, Red Cross Flanders wants to contribute to solving the regional challenges in developing countries in the field of first aid. In 2013, Red Cross Flanders and the Government of Flanders set up a large-scale study in ten countries in Southern Africa. The study revealed a number of shortcomings.

Project: Visitor programme of South African and Zimbabwean curators in Flanders and the Netherlands Beneficiary Kunstenpunt Budget: 5.900 euro Duration: 2019 Kunstensteunpunt and the Mondriaan Fund are taking part in an orientation trip to South Africa from 2 to 16 September 2018. The trip will be organised by the Mondriaan Fund for professional curators in the contemporary visual arts.
