Beneficiary: International Partnership for Microbicides Budget: 400.000 euro International Partnership for Microbicides (IPM) is an international NGO that works for safe and effective HIV prevention. IPM focuses on the development of new medical instruments and making them available at an affordable price in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Duration: 2014-2015 Budget: 1.000.000€ Chronic malnutrition is still a major concern in Mozambique. It affects 40% of the children aged under 5.

Project: food aid for Syrian refugees Beneficiary: World Food Programme Duration: 2014 Budget: 110.000 euro 3 million Syrian refugees are registered in neighboring Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq and Turkey. The World Food programme helps these refugess through a system of food credits (electronic coupons) so they can buy local food.

Duration: 2015 Budget: 150.000 euro the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) offers the refugees education, health care, shelter, microfinancing and first aid, especially in war times.

Duration: 2015-2016 Budget: 600.000 euro The CERF provides support in a timely and reliable manner to the victims of armed conflicts and natural disasters. The Government of Flanders is a modest donor, but by contributing to the CERF she endorses to various principles of Good Humanitarian Donorship (GHD).

Beneficiary: UNICEF Belgium Duration: 2014-2015 Budget: 200.000 euro Fighting the Ebola virus UNICEF developed strategy and launched an appeal for 200 million dollars to continue interventions in affected communities until at least the end of February 2015. Preventing mother to child transmission (PMTCT) of HIV is one of the priorities of the Mozambique Ministry of Health. Duration and budget An amount of 260,000 euros has been appropriated for this project which ends in 2014. Problem definition Just like other countries in southern Africa, Mozambique has to contend with the consequences of the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

Duration: 2012-2014 Budget: 689.755 Through this aid, the Government of Flanders wants to take the development of health care further on the basis of evidence-based medicine (EBM).

Project: Emergency aid for the refugees of Mosul, Iraq) Beneficiary: UNHCR Amount: 350.000 euro Duration: november 2016  The Government of Flanders approved a grant of 350,000 euros to UNHCR for the refugees from Mosul.  Mosul is the third largest city in Iraq and located just across the border of the Kurdish Autonomous Region in Iraq. Since 2014, Mosul is controlled by Islamic State (IS). The Kurdish population but also a significant Christian minority in the city were largely persecuted and expelled.

Project: Emergency aid for Ecuador after earthquake of April 16, 2016 Beneficiary: Plan België Amount: 100.000 euro Duration: mei 2016  On 13 May 13 Minister-president Bourgeois decided to grant 100.000 euro emergency aid for people in Ecuador after the earthquake of April 16th. The money will be used to help Plan België to get the food supply up and going again in the hard-hit coastal province of Pichincha. The Flemish support will help about 250 families.

Project: Emergency aid  cholera in Haiti   Beneficiary:  Rode Kruis Vlaanderen Amount: 100.000 euro Duration: October 2016  On October 4, 2016 the south-west of Haiti was struck by Hurricane Matthew.

Project: Refugee camp Gawilan (Kurdish Iraq)  Beneficiary: Rode Kruis Vlaanderen (Red Cross) Amount: 200.000 euro Duration: april 2016  In the refugee camp Gawilan in the autonomous Kurdish region in northern Iraq, near Erbil, live about 6,500 refugees from Syria.  Minister-president Bourgeois makes 200.000 euros available to the Red Cross for the direct support ("cash transfers") of 967 vulnerable families. The Flemish aid is part of a larger project of the International Red Cross, accounting for 4.2 million euros.

Project: emergency aid after floods in Malawi and Mozambique Beneficiary:  Malawi Humanitarian Emergency Response Fund (HERF) and One Programme UN Amount: 329.000 euro Duration: February 2015  In recent weeks heavy rainfall has caused severe flooding in Mozambique and Malawi. In Mozambique the provinces of Zambézia and Nampula are affected the worst. It is feared that at least 200,000 people will soon feel the effects of the food shortage. In Malawi especially the southern districts of Nsanje, Chikwawa, Phalombe and Zomba are affected.

Project: emergency aid for food crisis in Malawi  Beneficiary: World Food Programme Amount: 208.149 euro Duration: 2015 - 2016  In  Malawi an estimated 2.8 million people are threated by a food shortage will be  through the combination of floods and severe drought caused by a severe El Niño, a climate phenomenon that is caused by an abnormal warming of the seawater in the eastern tropical Pacific.  Together with the international community, the Malawian government addresses this situation with a national action plan.

Project: emergency aid for Syrian refugees in their own country Beneficiary:  Caritas  Amount: 150.000 euro Duration: September 2015  After five years of war in the region, the humanitarian conditions of the Syrian people are worsening rapidly. More than 12 million people are in need of emergency assistance. 7.6 million are fleeing the violence in Syria and the neighboring countries. Caritas International supports these refugees in their own region. Many flee to the coast of Syria. Numberless families arrive with little or no means and are living in poor the humanitarian conditions.

Project: Annaual grant to CERF Beneficiary:  CERF Amount: 600.000 euro Duration: 2017 Flanders has contributed annually to the UN Emergency Aid Fund since 2011.

Project: emergency aid for Nepal Beneficiary:  Rode Kruis Vlaanderen (Red Cross Flanders) Amount: 100.000 euro Duration: April 2015  On the 25th of April a severe earthquake hit Nepal. More than 2000 people were killed and thousands are injured.  Minister-president Geert Bourgeois allocates 100.000€ emergency aid for the victims of the disaster. The emergency aid goes to the Red Cross. Active in the region for more than 35 years, the Red Cross was able to start up the humanitarian aid quickly, due to their focus on ‘disaster preparedness’. 

Project: Emergncy aid humanitarian crisis in Yemen  Beneficiary:  Rode Kruis Vlaanderen (Red Cross Flanders) Amount: 150.000 euro Duration: 2015 The conflict in Yemen has been going on for a long time, but in recent years the humanitarian situation of the population has deteriorated.  The Red Cross Flanders will urgently assist refugees in precinct conditions in the provinces of Lahij, Taiz, Al Dhale'e, Amran, together with the German Red Cross and the Yemeni Red Half Moon volunteers.  Assistance is provided in the area of ​​food and water supply, basic hygiene and medical and psychosoci
