On 11 December 2017, Minister-president Geert Bourgeois met Secretary-General of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Ángel Gurría in Paris.
Minister-president Bourgeois pleaded for the use of regional data and authentic Flemish sources for international reporting. “Analyses at regional level are much more relevant for Flanders and its policy than OECD publications with national averages,” according to the Minister-president.
Secretary-General Gurría talked about the future social challenges and how society has to be prepared. The Government of Flanders has already come a long way and hopes to do even better with OECD as a partner.
Geert Bourgeois also met the new Director-General of UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), Audrey Azoulay. During the short acquaintance, Bourgeois talked about the many years of cooperation between Flanders and UNESCO and asked her vision on the future of UNESCO.
