On 12 December, the Dutch Minister of Education Ingrid van Engelshoven announced at the Committee of Ministers of “Taalunie” that the Netherlands will reinvest in Dutch-speaking education abroad. Thanks to this investment, 14.000 Dutch and Flemish children can be taught in their mother tongue. The access of Flemish students to Dutch schools abroad is part of the compensation for the large number of Dutch students in Flanders.
Flemish minister of Education, Hilde Crevits is pleased with the decision made by her Dutch colleague to invest 3 million euro next year. The quality, the quantity and the accessibility of the schools abroad will benefit by this new structural finance.
