From 24 to 31 August a delegation from the Port Authority of Thailand visited the Flemish ports. The delegation followed an on-the-job training on sustainable and green ports. The delegation was invited by the Department of Mobility and Public Works (MOW) and Flanders Investment and Trade (FIT).
The delegation visited the ports of Antwerp, Zeebrugge, Oostende and North Sea Port. An exposition of port operations and sustainability initiatives was provided. In Zeebrugge, they visited the Fluxys LNG natural gas terminal ; in Ostend the Hydroville hydrogen test boat and the Greenbrigde campus was visited. In addition, the participants gained insight into the activities of European federations ESPO and EFIP, which respectively defend the interests of European seaports and inland ports.
The government's Port Authority of Thailand (PAT) is responsible for the management and supervision of the central and regional ports. The PAT promotes trade, provides for handling of cargo and multimodal transport and facilitates logistics activities.
