On 4 February, the 16th Permanent Joint Committee between Flanders and Quebec took place via an online conference. This Permanent Joint Committee was entirely devoted to the new cooperation programme 2021-2023.
In recent years, cooperation between Québec and Flanders has been strengthened with a clear focus on maritime policy, culture, innovation and research, education and sustainable development. In the context of this shift, the renewal of the cooperation was discussed and worked out until December 2022. Secretary-General Julie Bynens and General Delegate Pierre-Luc Desgagné co-chaired the committee.
Québec was one of the first partners with which Flanders concluded a cooperation agreement (1989). Since then, the relationship has continuously strengthened and diversified into various domains.
