On Monday, March 22, Minister-president Jambon received the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Péter Szijjártó, in the Errera House.
The government members exchanged views extensively about Covid-19, which is on the rise in both countries. Brexit was also discussed.
Minister Szijjártó was enthusiastic about the possibility of a Flemish port mission and pointed out that Flanders is an important investor and exporter in his country.
In addition to economic themes, the planned prestigious Bosch Exhibition in Budapest, where paintings from Flanders will be exhibited, was also discussed.
Finally, Minister-president Jambon addressed an LBTQ + free zone in the small Hungarian town of Nagykáta. This led to reactions in Flanders' media and in the Flemish parliament at the end of last year. The Hungarian minister is aware of the phenomenon in Poland, but stated that he was not aware of Nagykáta. He promised to have this investigated.
