On 4 February Minister-president Jan Jambon had a meeting with Michel Barnier, the EU Chief Coordinator of the negotiations for a new, post-brexit relationship with the United Kingdom.
Minister-President Jambon provided Barnier with detailed information about the potentially very serious consequences of Brexit for Flanders and about the priorities of the Government of Flanders in this respect. He urged to strive for an ambitious and comprehensive agreement as possible with the UK.
Minister-President Jambon was also able to inform the EU Chief Negotiator about the preparations Flanders is making; hoping for the best possible outcome of the negotiations, but also taking into account the worst case scenario. the Government of Flanders will remain in close contact with the EU negotiators.
