24 September 2018 - For the fifth and last time Minister-President Bourgeois presented - on behalf of the Government - the September declaration in the Flemish Parliament. For this final year of the legislature, he brought a positive message with a balanced budget, additional expenditure for research & development and welfare and announced new climate actions.
However, the Minister-president urged Flemish businesses to prepare for brexit. Except for Ireland, a no-deal will hit Flanders the hardest and potentially endanger 28.000 jobs. Therefore, the Government of Flanders will assist the entrepreneurs and prepares a brexit action plan.
The Minister-president also spoke about the threats to world trade and repeated his plea against protectionism and for free and fair trade.
