From 4 to 6 February, Minister-president Geert Bourgeois and his colleague of Ostbelgien, the German-speaking Community, Olivier Paasch paid a working visit to Hamburg, Germany.
During a meeting with First Mayor of the city of Hamburg, Peter Tschentscher, the consequences of Brexit on the European Union, has been discussed. Bourgeois emphasized the importance of close cooperation with the UK and expressed his concerns over the economic impact of a no-deal scenario.
The two heads of governments afterwards visited the solo exhibition KAMIKAZE of the Flemish artist Philippe Vandenberg in der Hamburger Kunsthall.
Minister-president Bourgeois also paid a working visit to Aurubis, the largest copper producer in Europe and the largest copper recycler worldwide. The German-based group invested in a Flemish company that produces copper cathodes and now counts nearly 600 employees. Finally, the MPs went to the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg, where a guided tour was provided.
