Flanders Chancellery and Foreign Office is pleased to announce that 2022 marks the start of two new General Representatives of Flanders. Matthias De Moor succeeds Axel Buyse as General Representative of Flanders to the European Union; and Anne Laure Léger will direct the Delegation of Flanders in Italy.
Matthias De Moor will start on January 1, 2022. Contrary to previous communication, he will not start in Italy, but will be General Representative of Flanders to the European Union. He succeeds Axel Buyse, who is retiring.
Matthias studied economic sciences in Ghent. After a year in financial consultancy, he studied international relations in Vienna. He started his career at the government of Flanders in 2013 as policy officer on international environmental issues at the - then - Department of Environment, Nature and Energy (now: Department of Environment and Spatial Development). He followed, among other things, multilateral negotiations on sustainable development and renewable energy, as well as the environmental aspects of Flanders' bilateral cooperation. In recent months, he has co-ordinated the first preparations for the Flemish dimension of the Belgian presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2024.

She started her career with an internship at UNESCO. In 2004 she started at VisitFlanders in the foreign office in Paris. Anne Laure returned to Brussels in 2012 to take up a managerial position at the head office of VisitFlanders. Since 2015, as Director of the International Network, she coordinates the international activities of VisitFlanders.
