On 5 October, the Government of Flanders granted almost € 1,2 million to the International Centre for Reproductive Health - Mozambique (ICRH) for a project that improves sexual and reproductive health among adolescents in the province Maputo, Mozambique.
The project “Realizing younger adolescents’ sexual and reproductive rights” is based on existing partnerships and experiences between Flanders and ICHR-Mozambique. The aim of the initiative is to focus on young adolescents and to increase the sexual education of this group. The direct target group consists of 5000 girls and 5000 boys between 10 and 19 years. It also includes parents, community leaders and the wider family; groups that are often left out of consideration in classical approaches.
“With Mozambique as one of our official partner countries, Flanders has opted for a geographical and thematic focus so that resources can be used efficiently,” according to Minister-president Bourgeois.
The project will start on 1 October and will run for four years.
