Minister of Culture Sven Gatz paid a visit to San Francisco from 17 to 22 March. On 18 March, Minister Gatz visited the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco (FAMSF) where he met director Max Hollein to discuss their future cooperation.
Minister Gatz grants 100.000 euros to the museum for a new Rubens exhibition in 2019 and hopes to increase the international visibility of the ‘Flemish Masters Porgram’ through this expo. Several lectures and events about Rubens’ life and work will be launched next year. The museum management expects more than 175.000 visitors.
The exhibition “The Early Celebrity of Peter Paul Rubens” will focus on what is arguably the artist’s most innovative period of production (1608 - 1620) and runs from 6 April until 2 September 2019.
