With the project, UN Environment (UN environmental agency) wants to support the government of South Africa to implement the overarching implementation plan for Ecosystem Based Adapation (EbA).

'Ecosystem-based Adaptation' (EbA), uses biodiversity and ecosystem services as part of an overall adaptation strategy to help people and communities adapt to the negative effects of climate change.

The grant is aimed at strengthening the capacity of the Department for Environmental Affairs (DEA - Department of Environmental Affairs, South Africa) and will be used to put together a project team, consultancy, cooperation with partner organizations and supporting institutions, training courses, conferences and pilot projects.
