In 2019, the Flemish Architecture Institute plans to continue and deepen the exhibition Maatwerk Massaarbeit Architecktur aus Flandern un den Niederlanden. The project consists of a varies public programme in which the publication What Could Have Been is presented and discussed at various locations within Flanders, the Netherlands and Germany.
The publication focuses on a new generation of architects who are characterised by a strong awareness of the context and attention to building culture and history. In concrete terms, a number of lectures, debates and film screenings are planned.
Flanders attaches great importance to the cultural dimension in its international relations. The Flemish cultural diplomacy therefore considers culture as a carrier of values in the international relations of Flanders and the European Union.
