Grant to strengthen the eco-system for social entrepreneurship and enterprises in South Africa, 2014

Project: Building the Eco-system for Social Entrepreneurship and Enterprise in South Africa to Catalyse Socio-economic Growth and Promote Job Creation

Partner: Gordon Institute of Business Science, University of Pretoria

Budget: 702.000 euro

Duration: 01.01.2015 – 31.12.2017

The project wants to help promote social entrepreneurship by disseminating the principles of social entrepreneurship, training existing and starting social entrepreneurs and informing policy makers through research.

Three result areas were identified for realising a stronger eco-system for social entrepreneurship:

  1. informing policy makers about the opportunities to create jobs in social entrepreneurship;
  2. developing the skills and abilities of (future) social entrepreneurs;
  3. disseminating the principles of social entrepreneurship and bringing government, enterprises and civil society into contact with each other.

The beneficiaries of the project include (beginning and existing) social entrepreneurs, people from civil society and the business community, as well as public authorities.
