To reduce the infant and maternal mortality Mozambique has already delivered great efforts. In the period 2008 - 2014 the priority was to increase the number of health personnel. Since 2015, the focus shifted towards increasing the quality of of the health personnel.
With the project "Enhancing the quality of the midwifery workforce in Mozambique" United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) wants to increase the number of qualified midwives by applying the Cuban training model for medical personnel in Mozambique. Currently the project runs in the province of Cabo Delgado. Thanks to the Flemish support the project can expand to the Tete province.
The Government of Flanders wants to contribute to the development and implementation of an efficient and effective health policy at national level in Mozambique.
