Grant for technical and management support of the development cooperation programme in South Africa, 2012

Project: Technical and Management Support Project

Partner: Government of South Africa - National Treasury

Budget: 2.000.000 euro

Duration: 01.02.2012 – 31.12.2016 (extended till 30.06.2017)

With this project the National Treasury of South Africa will offer additional support to the official development programme between Flanders and South Africa. This programme has been laid down in the Country Strategy Paper 2012-2016. Both governments agreed to focus on two sectors, i.e. job creation through small enterprise development and smallholder agriculture and food security.

The development programme will be supported through three pillars:  The first pillar seeks to enhance the management capacities of government departments by providing them with training, advice and mentorship. Next, successful examples of good practice are exchanged and mapped, with regard to both management and content-related themes. The third pillar invests in research into successful pilot projects and preparatory studies which may serve as the basis for future development cooperation in South Africa.
