COMPACT has proven its value at several World Heritage sites and has continually been developed to improve the sustainable development of the local populations living in and around the sites. Structures for co-managements have been created, small grants to civil society organisations provided and income generation through a good governance and visits to the site. This has also contributed to the conservation of the biodiversity of the sites.
