On Tuesday, 13 November 2012, Flemish minister-president Peeters received Luxembourg’s Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker at d’Ursel Castle in Hingene. Both government leaders discussed the joint challenges for Flanders and the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg in the future, as well as several European matters.
They Minister-president Peeters mentioned to Prime Minister Juncker, who is the president of the Eurogroup, his request for European support to the province of Limburg. The province is facing an exceptional situation given the impending closure of the Ford factory in Genk.
Minister-president Peeters and Prime Minister Juncker also decided to give a new impetus to the existing Partnership Agreement between Luxembourg and Flanders, focussing on logistics, space industry and space research, and e-health. Following their meeting, the two leaders also met with Flemish and Luxembourg captains of industry to see how the collaboration between Flanders and Luxembourg can be further extended.
