On 28 September Deputy Representative Katrien Vandepladutse presented 4 SEED Africa Awards during the annual SEED Africa Symposium in Nairobi, Kenya. A total of 20 innovative start-ups received an award. The winners will receive six months of free, tailor-made support to develop their business.
SEED was set up within the UN and supports companies and start-ups in the social and green economy. This organisation has a clear focus on Sub-Saharan Africa. The Government of Flanders has worked with SEED since 2014 on projects in South Africa, Malawi, Mozambique and Namibia. The supported projects focused on developing an ecosystem for social and entrepreneurship and green economy.
The annual Africa Symposium gathers over 500 entrepreneurs, policy makers and representatives of civil society. This event offers the opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences, make new contacts and find solutions.
