From 20 to 22 March, a delegation of the Committee on Foreign Policy of the Flemish Parliament went on a working visit to Budapest. The program included a visit to two committees of the Hungarian Parliament, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the European Youth Center of the Council of Europe and a breakfast with the future financial director of KBC in Brussels.
During the two-day visit the members of the Flemish Parliament exchanged views with Hungarian counterparts. A number of current issues were discussed, such as relations with Russia, Hungary's energy dependency, migration in the context of the refugee crisis, the “Brexit” and the future of Europe.
David Maenaut, General Representative of the Government of Flanders in Austria, who is also responsible for Hungary, and FIT representative Béla Nagy organized the visit to Budapest. The Committee travelled further after this visit to Madrid, where Deputy André Hebbelinck also worked out a two-day program.
