With a chamber concert on 3 March , the new Mexican ambassador was welcomed to our country. Ambassador Eloy Cantú Segovia, along with the ambassadors of Canada, Honduras, Slovakia and Slovenia, enjoyed the concert organised by the Department and the Mexican Embassy. The chamber music was composed by Mexican guitar virtuoso Rodrigo Loman and performed by an orchestra of 15 Flemish and 5 Mexican musicians.
Secretary General Koen Verlaeckt invited Ambassador Eloy Cantú Segovia to deepen the good relations that have existed between Mexico and Flanders for over 20 years. Currently, Flanders and Mexico are working on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on culture, education, science, innovation and export promotion. Negotiations between Mexico and the European Union on the modernization of the existing free trade agreement will also start soon.
Ambassador Eloy Cantú Segovia thanked the department for its hospitality: “I’m delighted to celebrate my first official event as inaugurated ambassador in this country with my Flemish friends.”
