From an economic point of view, Colombia belongs to the five best economic performing countries in Latin America. This is actually a minor miracle given that more than five decades ago, the country had to contend with a bloody fight against guerrillas and drug cartels. Colombia makes use of Flemish expertise in the management of ports and waterways.
The November 2016 peace agreement between the Santos Government and the FARC guerrilla should enable Colombia to capitalise on its strengths even better - excellent country location (bordering two oceans), motivated workforce with a dynamic mentality, beautiful scenery and well-preserved cities (Cartagena de las Indias, Medellín). Colombia is part of the Pacific Alliance, along with Chile, Mexico and Peru.
