Benelux is an intergovernmental cooperation between Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. Trilateral cooperation in the areas of mobility, energy, job mobility and the fight against social fraud are all traditionally important topics for Flanders.
Flanders invests in the Benelux countries, viewing them as an important tool in our neighbouring countries' policies. The Government of Flanders primarily ensures that this remit is incorporated into all relevant technical services. The Department of Foreign Affairs plays a coordinating role. In addition, Benelux is an important regional cooperation partnership within the European Union, and it can often serve as an example or testing ground for the EU.
